The SOS4 pyridoxal kinase is required for maintenance of vitamin B-6-mediated processes in chloroplasts

PLANT PHYSIOLOGY AND BIOCHEMISTRY, 63, 281–291.

By: E. Rueschhoff n, J. Gillikin n, H. Sederoff n & M. Daub n

Contributors: E. Rueschhoff n, J. Gillikin n, H. Sederoff n & M. Daub n

author keywords: Pyridoxine; Pyridoxamine; Pyridoxal kinase; Pyridoxal phosphate synthase
MeSH headings : Arabidopsis / genetics; Arabidopsis / metabolism; Arabidopsis Proteins / genetics; Arabidopsis Proteins / metabolism; Chloroplasts / metabolism; Models, Biological; Pyridoxal Kinase / genetics; Pyridoxal Kinase / metabolism; Vitamin B 6 / metabolism
TL;DR: Comparing two mutants for vitamin B(6)-metabolizing enzymes in Arabidopsis thaliana shows that both mutants share similar phenotypes, including chlorosis, decreased size, altered chloroplast ultrastructure, and root sensitivity to sucrose, and data indicate that some of the phenotypic consequences shared between the pdx1.3 and sos4 mutants are due to B( 6) deficiency in chloroplasts. Synergistic disruptions in seuss cyp85A2 double mutants reveal a role for brassinolide synthesis during gynoecium and ovule development

BMC PLANT BIOLOGY, 10.

By: S. Nole-Wilson n, E. Rueschhoff n, H. Bhatti n & R. Franks n

Contributors: S. Nole-Wilson n, E. Rueschhoff n, H. Bhatti n & R. Franks n

MeSH headings : Arabidopsis / genetics; Arabidopsis / growth & development; Arabidopsis Proteins / genetics; Arabidopsis Proteins / metabolism; Brassinosteroids; Cholestanols / metabolism; Chromosome Mapping; Cytochrome P-450 Enzyme System / genetics; Cytochrome P-450 Enzyme System / metabolism; DNA, Plant / genetics; Gene Expression Regulation, Developmental; Gene Expression Regulation, Plant; Genetic Complementation Test; Genotype; Mutagenesis, Insertional; Mutation; Ovule / growth & development; Plant Growth Regulators / biosynthesis; Steroids, Heterocyclic / metabolism
TL;DR: The identification of mutations in CYP85A2 as enhancers of the seuss mutant phenotype suggests a previously unrecognized role for brassinolide synthesis in gynoecial and ovule outer integument development and suggests that seuss mutants may be more sensitive to the loss or reduction of brassinlide synthesis than are wild type plants. Regulation of the Arabidopsis thaliana vitamin B-6 biosynthesis genes by abiotic stress

PLANT PHYSIOLOGY AND BIOCHEMISTRY, 45(2), 152–161.

By: S. Densiow, E. Rueschhoff n & M. Daub n

author keywords: antioxidant; plant abiotic stress; SNZ1; SNO; YaaD; YaaE
MeSH headings : Antioxidants / metabolism; Arabidopsis / metabolism; Arabidopsis Proteins / metabolism; Arabidopsis Proteins / physiology; Carbon-Nitrogen Lyases; Escherichia coli / metabolism; Gene Expression Regulation, Plant; Genes, Plant; Green Fluorescent Proteins / metabolism; Microscopy, Fluorescence; Nitrogenous Group Transferases / metabolism; Nitrogenous Group Transferases / physiology; Oxidative Stress; Phylogeny; Plant Proteins / metabolism; RNA, Messenger / metabolism; Time Factors; Vitamin B 6 / metabolism
TL;DR: All three PDX1 genes and PDX2 were responsive to abiotic stressors including high light, chilling, drought, and ozone, however, the response ofPDX1.2 was disparate from that of the other PDX genes, showing a lessened response to high light , chilling, and drought, but an increased response to ozone.
