Alphavirus Genome Delivery Occurs Directly at the Plasma Membrane in a Time- and Temperature-Dependent Process

JOURNAL OF VIROLOGY, 87(8), 4352–4359.

MeSH headings : Animals; Cell Membrane / virology; Cells, Cultured; Cricetinae; Microscopy, Immunoelectron; RNA, Viral / metabolism; Sindbis Virus / physiology; Staining and Labeling / methods; Temperature; Time Factors; Virus Internalization
TL;DR: It is concluded that entry of alphaviruses is by direct penetration of cell plasma membranes through a pore structure formed by virus and, possibly, host proteins. (via Semantic Scholar)

Infection of cells by Sindbis virus at low temperature

Virology, 362(2), 461–467.

By: G. Wang n, R. Hernandez n, keith & D. Brown n

MeSH headings : Animals; Cell Fusion; Cell Line; Cricetinae; Endocytosis; Microscopy, Immunoelectron; Neutral Red / metabolism; Sindbis Virus / physiology; Temperature; Time Factors; Viral Plaque Assay; Virus Internalization
TL;DR: The ability of Sind Bis virus to infect Baby Hamster Kidney cells at temperatures which block endocytosis is examined and it is found that under these conditions Sindbis virus infects cells in a temperature- and time-dependent fashion. (via Semantic Scholar)
