Turkey hen zinc source affects progeny immunity and disease resistance

JOURNAL OF APPLIED POULTRY RESEARCH, 9(3), 414–423.

By: M. Kidd n, M. Qureshi n, P. Ferket n & L. Thomas n

author keywords: Bordetella avium; cellular immunity; macrophage; progeny; turkey; zinc methionine
TL;DR: Results indicate that dietary ZnM supplementation to hens may aid progeny immune organ development and enhance nonspecific immunity, however, progeny from hens supplemented with Znm had a depressed BW after B. avium infection that may have been due to a heightened immune response. Dietary threonine responses in growing turkey toms

POULTRY SCIENCE, 77(10), 1550–1555.

By: M. Kidd*, P. Ferket* & T. Garlich

author keywords: turkey; threonine; amino acid; crude protein
MeSH headings : Animal Feed; Animals; Dietary Supplements; Male; Regression Analysis; Temperature; Threonine / administration & dosage; Threonine / deficiency; Threonine / pharmacology; Turkeys / growth & development; Weight Gain / drug effects
TL;DR: Evaluated Thr responses in Large White (British United Turkeys) male turkeys during three time periods indicate that the NRC (1994) estimations of Thr needs up to 9 wk of age are more than adequate. (via Semantic Scholar)
