Cytauxzoon felis in salivary glands of Amblyomma americanum

TICKS AND TICK-BORNE DISEASES, 14(1).

author keywords: Cytauxzoon felis; Sporozoites; In situ hybridization; Tick; Salivary glands
MeSH headings : Cats; Animals; Amblyomma; Microscopy, Electron, Transmission; Salivary Glands
TL;DR: The first direct visualization of any developing stage of C. felis within the tick host has been visualized microscopically, and it is believed that sporozoites in tick salivary glands (SG) have similar potential for cytauxzoonosis. (via Semantic Scholar)

Impaired mitochondrial function of alveolar macrophages in carbon nanotube-induced chronic pulmonary granulomatous disease

TOXICOLOGY, 445.

By: E. Soliman*, A. Elhassanny*, A. Malur*, M. McPeek*, A. Bell n, N. Leffler*, R. Van Dross*, J. Jones n, A. Malur*, M. Thomassen*

author keywords: Multiwalled carbon nanotubes; Mitochondria; Fatty acid oxidation; Oxidative stress; Apoptosis; microRNA 27b
MeSH headings : Animals; Granulomatous Disease, Chronic / chemically induced; Granulomatous Disease, Chronic / metabolism; Granulomatous Disease, Chronic / pathology; Lung Diseases / chemically induced; Lung Diseases / metabolism; Lung Diseases / pathology; Macrophages, Alveolar / drug effects; Macrophages, Alveolar / metabolism; Macrophages, Alveolar / pathology; Mice; Mice, Inbred C57BL; MicroRNAs / metabolism; Mitochondria / drug effects; Mitochondria / metabolism; Mitochondria / pathology; Nanotubes, Carbon / toxicity; Oxidative Stress / drug effects; Oxidative Stress / physiology
TL;DR: Alveolar macrophages of MWCNT-instilled mice had increased miR-27b expression, which may reduce the expression of PPARγ resulting in attenuation of FAO, and this reduction in FAO may lead to activation of M1 macrophage activation. (via Semantic Scholar)
