Breast Lesion Diameter in VisR Imaging Differs Between Malignant and Benign Masses in Women

2022 IEEE INTERNATIONAL ULTRASONICS SYMPOSIUM (IEEE IUS).

By: A. Phillips n, G. Torres n, D. Steed*, M. Caughey n, J. Merhout*, S. Kirk*, T. Hartman*, C. Kuzmiak*, E. Ray*, C. Gallippi n

author keywords: Acoustic Radiation Force; ARFI; Viscoelastic Response; VisR; Elastography; Breast Cancer; Benign; Malignant; E/B Ratio; Strain Elastography
TL;DR: It is found that E/B ratio measured from VisR relative elasticity (RE) and relative viscosity (RV) statistically separated benign and malignant breast lesions and improved AUC and sensitivity compared to E/Bs measured from ARFI peak displacement. (via Semantic Scholar)

ARFI Variance of Acceleration for Diagnostic Breast Cancer Imaging in Women, in vivo

INTERNATIONAL ULTRASONICS SYMPOSIUM (IEEE IUS 2021).

By: A. Phillips n, G. Torres n, D. Steed*, M. Caughey n, J. Merhout*, S. Kirk*, T. Hartman*, C. Kuzmiak*, E. Ray*, C. Gallippi n

author keywords: Acoustic Radiation Force (ARF); Variance of Acceleration (VoA); Elastography; Breast Cancer; Benign; Malignant; Fluid-filled; Necrosis; Solid
TL;DR: A new metric, ΔLog(VoA), which can be calculated from ARFI ultrasound data and incorporates the mechanical and acoustic properties of tissue into one parameter is proposed, which can differentiate clinically relevant lesion features such as fluid and necrosis, and detect tissue characteristics that coincide with malignancy.
