Driver behavior in use of guide and logo signs under distraction and complex roadway conditions

APPLIED ERGONOMICS, 47, 99–106.

By: D. Kaber n, C. Pankok n, B. Corbett n, W. Ma n, J. Hummer* & W. Rasdorf n

author keywords: Roadway logo signs; Driver performance; Driver distraction
MeSH headings : Adult; Attention; Automobile Driving / psychology; Comprehension; Eye Movement Measurements; Eye Movements; Female; Humans; Location Directories and Signs; Male; Middle Aged; Task Performance and Analysis; Time Factors
TL;DR: Results revealed glance durations and fixation frequencies to guide signs to be significantly lower than with six-panel and nine-panel logo signs, but no differences were found between six- panel andNine- panel logo signs. (via Semantic Scholar)

The Effects of Haptic Feedback and Visual Distraction on Pointing Task Performance

INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF HUMAN-COMPUTER INTERACTION, 32(2), 89–102.

By: B. Corbett n, C. Nam n & T. Yamaguchi*

TL;DR: Results indicate a strong positive effect of haptic feedback on performance in terms of task time and root mean square error of motion and level of similarity between distractor objects and the target object significantly reduced performance, and subjective ratings indicated a sense of increased task difficulty as similarity increased. Scenario-Based Observation Approach for Eliciting User Requirements for Haptic User Interfaces

INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF HUMAN-COMPUTER INTERACTION, 30(11), 842–854.

By: S. Bahn*, B. Corbett n & C. Nam n

TL;DR: The state-of-art of requirements engineering is explored, the challenges in developing a haptic assistive system are discussed, and a methodology of combining a controlled observation in a naturalistic setting with scenario-based design for effective and efficient user requirements elicitation is proposed.
