Dr. Daniel Findley, P.E., is a Senior Research Associate with the Institute for Transportation Research and Education at NC State in Raleigh, North Carolina. He specializes in asset management and inventory, horizontal curve safety, economic impact analysis, multi-modal transportation, human behavior research, and transportation engineering studies. He served as Principal Investigator (PI) or co-PI on over 14 funded projects and has conducted research for sponsors including NCDOT, FHWA, ACRP, ITE, and others. He holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from North Carolina State University and is a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in North Carolina. He also serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering at NC State University. Dr. Findley was an author for the 1st edition of Highway Engineering - Planning, Design, and Operations, the 2nd edition of the ITE Manual of Transportation Studies, and Chapter 4 of the 7th edition of the ITE Traffic Engineering Handbook. Dr. Findley has authored or co-authored over 22 peer-reviewed journal articles and has given numerous presentations at local, state, national, and international audiences. He is a member of the TRB Operational Effects of Geometrics Committee (AHB65), Traffic Law Enforcement Committee (ANB40), and History Committee (ABG50). He was also a contributing member of the North Carolina Strategic Highway Safety Plan. Dr. Findley was selected for the Transatlantic Partnership for Excellence in Engineering Mobility Scholarship under the Erasmus Mundus Program of the European Union to collaborate with peers at the Polytechnic University of Valencia in 2012. He has also been engaged in international outreach with a short course in Abu Dhabi and study abroad courses in Australia and Prague. Dr. Findley manages three education programs, including a Professional Engineering (PE) exam review course, a Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam review course, and the Highway Engineering Concepts (HEC) course. He is also active in the local public school education community by serving as a Future City Mentor, STEM Career Role Model, and Academy of Information Technology Mentor.
