Focus expansion and stability of the spread parameter estimate of the power law model for dispersal gradients

PEERJ, 5.

By: P. Ojiambo n, D. Gent*, L. Mehra n, D. Christie n & R. Magarey n

author keywords: Inverse power law; Dispersive waves; Epidemic spread; Parameter stability; Long-distance dispersal
TL;DR: Analysis of empirical data of cucurbit downy mildew epidemics collected from 2008 to 2014 were analyzed using a spatio-temporal model of disease spread that incorporates logistic growth in time with a power law function for dispersal, suggesting that the spread parameter b may not be stable over multiple epidemic years. Climate Suitability for Magnaporthe oryzae Triticum Pathotype in the United States

PLANT DISEASE, 100(10), 1979–1987.

By: C. Cruz*, R. Magarey n, D. Christie n, G. Fowler*, J. Fernandes*, W. Bockus*, B. Valent*, J. Stack*

TL;DR: The models generated in this study should provide the foundation for more advanced models in the future, and could be used to prioritize research efforts regarding the biology of M. oryzae Triticum and the epidemiology of the wheat blast disease. (via Semantic Scholar)

Prediction of Phyllosticta citricarpa using an hourly infection model and validation with prevalence data from South Africa and Australia

CROP PROTECTION, 75, 104–114.

By: R. Magarey n, S. Hong n, P. Fourie*, D. Christie n, A. Miles*, G. Schutte*, T. Gottwald*

author keywords: Risk analysis; Modeling; Validation
TL;DR: It is suggested that only a few isolated locations in the extreme south of Europe are likely to have a low to marginal risk of P. citricarpa establishment and Europe is less suitable for CBS than suggested by an earlier study produced by the European Food Safety Authority using a similar model.
