Carboxylic Acid Amide but Not Quinone Outside Inhibitor Fungicide Resistance Mutations Show Clade-Specific Occurrence in Pseudoperonospora cubensis Causing Downy Mildew in Commercial and Wild Cucurbits

D'Arcangelo, K. N., Wallace, E. C., Miles, T. D., & Quesada-Ocampo, L. M. (2022, August 2). PHYTOPATHOLOGY, Vol. 8.

author keywords: antimicrobial or fungicide resistance; disease control and pest management; oomycetes
MeSH headings : Fungicides, Industrial / pharmacology; Amides / pharmacology; Carboxylic Acids / pharmacology; Plant Diseases; Oomycetes / genetics; Peronospora; Mutation; Strobilurins / pharmacology; Quinones / pharmacology
TL;DR: This study used population analyses to determine the occurrence of fungicide resistance mutations to CAA and QoI fungicides in host-adapted clade 1 and clade 2 P. cubensis isolates, and revealed that CAA-resistant genotypes occurred more prominently in clades 2 and 3, with more sensitive genotypes observed in clade1. Peronospora monardae, Hyaloperonospora daughtreyae and H. iberidis: new species associated with downy mildew diseases affecting ornamental plants in the United States

EUROPEAN JOURNAL OF PLANT PATHOLOGY, 157(2), 311–326.

By: C. Salgado-Salazar*, N. LeBlanc*, E. Wallace*, M. Daughtrey* & J. Crouch*

author keywords: Brassicaceae; Cleomaceae; Downy mildew; Lamiaceae; Oomycetes; Obligate parasites; Peronosporaceae
TL;DR: Phylogenetic analysis of the internal transcribed spacer rDNA and cox2 revealed two new species, which are described here as Peronospora monardae infecting both Monarda didyma and A. mexicana and Hyaloperonosporaceae infecting T. hassleriana. (via Semantic Scholar)

Analysis of microsatellites from the transcriptome of downy mildew pathogens and their application for characterization of Pseud operonospora populations

PEERJ, 5.

By: E. Wallace n & L. Quesada-Ocampo n

author keywords: Pseudoperonospora cubensis; Downy mildew; Simple Sequence Repeats; Microsatellites; Comparative genomics; Population genetics
TL;DR: Analysis of Pseudoperonospora isolates from diverse hosts and locations revealed higher diversity in P. cubensis compared to P. humuli isolates, and compared the microsatellite repertoire of P.Cubensis to that of the model organism Hyaloper onospora arabidopsidis, which causes downy mildew in Arabidopsis.
