We, broaden our focus to insular environments generally because, at least from the perspective of museums, the features of islands that make them interesting biologically – being bounded in space and time – are true for other environments and events as well. Thus, the multi-scale nature of museum science provides important context for interpretation. The gallery concept described here aims to focus on marine science undertaken by the museum as a way of advancing its mission, while leveraging the diversity of its research.}, journal={ISLAND ECOSYSTEMS}, author={Dorfman, Eric and Sutton, Javan}, year={2023}, pages={415–425} }
