The Role of Haptic Feedback in Robotic-Assisted Retinal Microsurgery Systems: A Systematic Review
IEEE Transactions on Haptics, 10(1), 94–105.
author keywords: Retinal microsurgery; sensory input and output; haptic feedback; tactile force sensing
MeSH headings : Equipment Design; Humans; Microsurgery / instrumentation; Retina / surgery; Robotic Surgical Procedures / instrumentation; Robotic Surgical Procedures / methods; Surgery, Computer-Assisted / instrumentation
TL;DR:
This review finds that the implementation of HFE is important for the consideration of retinal microsurgery devices, but it is largely missing from current research, and the addition of direct comparisons between devices, measures of user acceptance, usability evaluations, and greater realism in testing would help advance the use of haptic sensory feedback for retinalmicrosurgery instruments.
