Contributors: I. Gentzel*, C. Park*, M. Bellizzi*, G. Xiao*, K. Gadhave n, C. Murphree n, Q. Yang n, J. Lamantia* ...

author keywords: Maize; Protoplasts; CRISPR; Cas9; Transcription activation; Transcription suppression
TL;DR: This study describes a vector toolkit for analyzing dCas9-mediated activation (CRISPRa) or inactivation ( CRISPRi) of gene expression in maize protoplasts and expects that this maize protoplast toolkit will streamline the analysis of gRNA candidates and facilitate genetic studies of important trait genes in this transformation-recalcitrant plant. Virus-virus interactions in a plant host and in a hemipteran vector: Implications for vector fitness and virus epidemics

VIRUS RESEARCH, 286.

author keywords: Cucurbit leaf crumple virus; Cucurbit yellow stunting disorder virus; Tomato yellow leaf curl virus; Begomovirus; Crinivirus; Bemisia tabaci; Vector-virus interactions
MeSH headings : Animals; Begomovirus / genetics; Begomovirus / metabolism; Coinfection / virology; Crinivirus / genetics; Crinivirus / metabolism; Female; Genetic Fitness; Hemiptera / virology; Insect Vectors / genetics; Insect Vectors / virology; Male; Microbial Interactions; Plant Viruses / classification; Plant Viruses / metabolism
TL;DR: Results indicate that mixed infection of viruses in host plants and acquisition of multiple viruses by the vector could have implications for virus accumulation, virus acquisition, vector preference, and epidemics that sometimes are different from single-virus infection or acquisition.
