Laser ablation reveals the impact of Cdc15p on the stiffness of the contractile ring
Moshtohry, M., Bellingham-Johnstun, K., Elting, M. W., & Laplante, C. (2022, March 11). Molecular Biology of the Cell, Vol. 33.
MeSH headings : Actin Cytoskeleton / metabolism; Cytokinesis; Laser Therapy; Schizosaccharomyces / metabolism; Schizosaccharomyces pombe Proteins / metabolism
topics (OpenAlex): Cellular Mechanics and Interactions; Diamond and Carbon-based Materials Research; Force Microscopy Techniques and Applications
TL;DR:
This work shows that the severed constricting contractile ring recoils to a finite point leaving a gap that can heal if less than ∼1 µm, and proposes that Cdc15p impacts the stiffness of the contractiles ring more than the viscous drag.
