Investigation and modelling of greenhouse gas emissions resulting from waste collection and transport activities

WASTE MANAGEMENT & RESEARCH, 37(12), 1282–1290.

By: C. Yaman*, I. Anil*, M. Jaunich n, N. Blaisi*, O. Alagha*, A. Yaman*, S. Gunday*

author keywords: Greenhouse gas; waste; collection; transfer; AERMOD; global warming factor
MeSH headings : Carbon Dioxide; Global Warming; Greenhouse Effect; Greenhouse Gases; Refuse Disposal; Solid Waste
TL;DR: The American Meteorological Society/Environmental Protection Agency Regulatory Model (AERMOD) modelling system was used to estimate the atmospheric dispersion of greenhouse gas emissions, and results revealed that the maximum daily greenhouse gas concentrations ranged between 0.174 and 97.3 mg m-3, while annual average greenhouseGas concentrations were found to be within the study domain. Solid Waste Management Policy Implications on Waste Process Choices and Systemwide Cost and Greenhouse Gas Performance

Environmental Science & Technology, 53(4), 1766–1775.

By: M. Jaunich n, J. Levis n, J. DeCarolis n, M. Barlaz n & S. Ranjithan n

MeSH headings : Cities; Greenhouse Effect; Greenhouse Gases; Humans; North Carolina; Refuse Disposal; Solid Waste; Waste Management
TL;DR: This analysis evaluated cost and select environmental implications of SWM policies for Wake County, North Carolina using a life-cycle approach and found that maintaining the current separate collection scheme limited the potential for cost and GHG reductions. (via Semantic Scholar)
