Dr. Maricar Aguilos is an Assistant Research Professor at the Forestry and Environmental Resources Department of North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC, USA. She was a former researcher at the French National Institute for Agricultural Research, France, working mainly on the carbon and water dynamics in the Amazonian Forest of French Guiana. Maricar uses the Eddy Covariance System to measure atmospheric carbon in various forest ecosystems. She focused on ecosystem carbon and water fluxes in disturbed ecosystems, pine plantations, bioenergy sites, and wetlands. She also has a background in soil carbon measurements using automated soil respiration chambers. She also writes papers on ecohydrology using long-term datasets at local and regional levels. She infused modeling and machine learning approaches into her empirical datasets. She finished her PhD in Environmental Science at Hokkaido University, Japan.
