Phylogenetic relationships of Rhizoctonia fungi within the Cantharellales

FUNGAL BIOLOGY, 120(4), 603–619.

By: D. Gonzalez*, M. Rodriguez-Carres n, T. Boekhout*, J. Stalpers*, E. Kuramae*, A. Nakatani*, R. Vilgalys*, M. Cubeta n

author keywords: Fungal plant pathogens; Multi-locus phylogeny; Rhizoctonia anamorphs; Rhizoctonia solani
MeSH headings : Basidiomycota / classification; Basidiomycota / genetics; Cluster Analysis; DNA, Fungal / chemistry; DNA, Fungal / genetics; DNA, Ribosomal Spacer / chemistry; DNA, Ribosomal Spacer / genetics; Mitochondrial Proton-Translocating ATPases / genetics; Peptide Elongation Factor 1 / genetics; Phylogeny; RNA Polymerase II / genetics; Sequence Analysis, DNA
TL;DR: The inclusion of additional sequence data did not clarify incongruences observed in previous studies of Rhizoctonia fungi in the Cantharellales based on analyses of a single or multiple genes, and the diversity of ecological and morphological characters associated with these fungi requires further investigation on character evolution. First Report of Root Rot Caused by Binucleate Rhizoctonia Anastomosis Group F on Musa spp

Yin, J., Kone, D., Rodriguez-Carres, M., Cubeta, M. A., Burpee, L. L., Fonsah, E. G., … Ji, P. (2011, April). PLANT DISEASE, Vol. 95, pp. 490–490.

By: J. Yin*, D. Kone*, M. Rodriguez-Carres n, M. Cubeta n, L. Burpee*, E. Fonsah*, A. Csinos*, P. Ji*

TL;DR: This is the first report of banana root rot caused by binucleate Rhizoctonia anastomosis group F, and the occurrence of Ceratobasidium root rot on bananas needs to be considered when designing disease management programs and searching for suitable cultivars for banana production. Seasonal Prevalence of Species of Binucleate Rhizoctonia Fungi in Growing Medium, Leaf Litter, and Stems of Container-Grown Azalea

PLANT DISEASE, 95(6), 705–711.

By: W. Copes*, M. Rodriguez-Carres n, T. Toda*, T. Rinehart & M. Cubeta n

TL;DR: The six AGs of BNR are the predominant Rhizoctonia fungi occupying the habitat niches in container-grown azalea, with little change in population frequency and composition from fall to summer; thus, BNR pathogenic and nonpathogenic to azaleo have established a mixed Rhiz octonia community on container- grown azalee. [Review of ]. FUNGAL BIOLOGY, 116(1), 11–23.

By: G. Samuels*, A. Ismaiel*, A. Rosmana*, M. Junaid*, D. Guest*, P. Mcmahon*, P. Keane*, A. Purwantara ...

author keywords: Ceratobasidium; Ceratobasidium ramicola; Oncobasidium; Plant pathology; Thanatephorus; Theobroma cacao; Uthatobasidium
MeSH headings : Asia, Southeastern; Basidiomycota / classification; Basidiomycota / genetics; Basidiomycota / isolation & purification; Cacao / microbiology; DNA, Fungal / chemistry; DNA, Fungal / genetics; DNA, Ribosomal Spacer / chemistry; DNA, Ribosomal Spacer / genetics; Melanesia; Molecular Sequence Data; Oligonucleotide Probes / genetics; Phylogeny; Plant Diseases / microbiology; Plant Leaves / microbiology; Polymerase Chain Reaction / methods; RNA, Ribosomal / genetics; RNA, Ribosomal, 5.8S / genetics; Sequence Analysis, DNA
TL;DR: A PCR-based protocol was developed to detect and identify C. theobromae in plant tissue of cacao enabling early detection of the pathogen in plants, and the new combination Ceratobasidium the Obromae is proposed. (via Semantic Scholar)
