Sankalp Swami is an experienced Traffic Engineer and Data Scientist, holding a Master’s in Civil Engineering from North Carolina State University with a focus on Transportation Systems. With over seven years of professional experience, Sankalp excels in intelligent transportation systems (ITS), traffic safety, signal design, traffic simulation modeling, and data analytics. Currently working as a Traffic Engineer/Transportation Business Analyst at Rossi Group, he has contributed to traffic operations improvement through projects such as the MDTA Freeway Incident Traffic Management (FITM) Project, where he conducted detour route analysis for incident zones at the Francis Scott Key (FSK) Bridge in Maryland. His work involves advanced data analysis techniques, utilizing system loops, Wavetronix, and Bluetooth devices to enhance traffic operations. During his tenure at WSP USA, Sankalp significantly contributed to projects like the IndyGO Purple Line and Blue Line BRT, the College Ave Two-Way Conversion Project, and various safety studies. He has hands-on experience in pavement marking, signage design, roadway cross-sections, and drainage work. Sankalp also serves as the Director of Communications for the Young Professionals in Transportation (YPT) Baltimore Chapter, where he developed and launched the official YPT-Baltimore Chapter website, overseeing all aspects of design, content, and functionality. He leads the management and strategic growth of the chapter's social media presence, driving engagement and promoting chapter activities across multiple platforms.
