fungal bioremediation, constructed wetlands, algal blooms, photochemistry, process engineering
My research has focused on nature-based processes to improve water quality. I have studied photochemical processes in constructed wetlands to remove emerging contaminants, examined the impact of mixing on harmful algal blooms, and used fungal bioremediation to remove contaminants from stormwater. My work integrates principles from environmental process engineering, fluid mechanics, aquatic chemistry, photochemistry, phytoplankton ecology, mycology, and modeling, and I pursue collaborations with colleagues to expand the reach of my research into new domains. I look forward to the further development of these research efforts and the new insights we can gain by looking at environmental processes through nature’s lens.
