Lung-specific mutagenicity and mutational spectrum in B6C3F1 lacI transgenic mice following inhalation exposure to 1,2-epoxybutene

MUTATION RESEARCH-FUNDAMENTAL AND MOLECULAR MECHANISMS OF MUTAGENESIS, 473(1), 37–49.

By: C. Saranko n, K. Meyer*, L. Pluta*, R. Henderson* & L. Recio*

author keywords: lung-specific mutagenicity; mutational spectrum; B6C3F1 lacI transgenic mice
MeSH headings : Administration, Inhalation; Animals; Bacterial Proteins / drug effects; Bacterial Proteins / genetics; Bone Marrow / metabolism; DNA Mutational Analysis; Epoxy Compounds / administration & dosage; Epoxy Compounds / toxicity; Escherichia coli Proteins; Female; Lac Repressors; Lung / metabolism; Mice; Mice, Transgenic; Mutagenesis / drug effects; Mutagenesis / genetics; Mutagens / administration & dosage; Mutagens / toxicity; Repressor Proteins / drug effects; Repressor Proteins / genetics; Spleen / metabolism; Tissue Distribution
TL;DR: It is hypothesized that the direct in vivo mutagenicity and further in situ metabolism of EB in the lungs of EB-exposed mice played a prominent role in the generation of the current mutational spectrum. (via Semantic Scholar)

Molecular analysis of lacI mutants from transgenic fibroblasts exposed to 1,2-epoxybutene

CARCINOGENESIS, 19(11), 1879–1887.

By: C. Saranko n, L. Pluta & L. Recio*

MeSH headings : Animals; Bacterial Proteins / genetics; Epoxy Compounds / toxicity; Escherichia coli Proteins; Fibroblasts; Lac Repressors; Mice; Mutagens / toxicity; Mutation; Rats; Repressor Proteins / genetics; Transfection
TL;DR: The mutagenicity and mutational spectrum of EB in Rat2 lacI transgenic fibroblasts are determined and suggest that EB causes mutation primarily by base substitution and that the spectrum of these mutations closely resembles that of BD. (via Semantic Scholar)
