Can behaviour and physiology mitigate effects of warming on ectotherms? A test in urban ants

Youngsteadt, E., Prado, S. G., Keleher, K. J., & Kirchner, M. (2023, January 15). JOURNAL OF ANIMAL ECOLOGY.

By: E. Youngsteadt n, S. Prado n, K. Keleher n & M. Kirchner n

author keywords: behavioural thermoregulation; CTmax; Formicidae; heat tolerance; thermal limits; thermal preference
MeSH headings : Animals; Ants / physiology; Hot Temperature; Temperature; Insecta; Climate Change
TL;DR: The results suggest that adaptation and behaviour may not protect common temperate forest ants from a warming climate, and highlight the need to evaluate effects of chronic, sublethal warming on small ectotherms. (via Semantic Scholar)

A high-throughput multispectral imaging system for museum specimens

By: W. Chan*, R. Childers*, S. Ashe*, C. Tsai*, C. Elson*, K. Keleher n, R. Sipe*, C. Maier* ...

MeSH headings : Museums; Phenotype; Records; Software
TL;DR: An economical imaging system with integrated hardware and software to capture multispectral images of Lepidoptera with high efficiency and can increase exponentially the amount and quality of trait data extracted from museum specimens is presented. (via Semantic Scholar)

Do Bee Wings Adapt for Flight in Urban Environments?

TL;DR: It is found that, although the wing morphology suggests a limited dispersal ability in Andrena barbara (Barbara's Miner), the urban landscape did not significantly explain how wing shape or size vary, suggesting that urban habitats may potentially serve an important role in bee conservation.
