Two-Photon Luminescence Imaging of Bacillus Spores Using Peptide-Functionalized Gold Nanorods

Nano Research, 1(6), 450–456.

By: W. He*, W. Henne*, Q. Wei*, Y. Zhao*, D. Doorneweerd*, J. Cheng*, P. Low*, A. Wei*

Contributors: W. He*, W. Henne*, Q. Wei*, Y. Zhao*, D. Doorneweerd*, J. Cheng*, P. Low*, A. Wei*

author keywords: Bionanotechnology; nanorods; nonlinear optics; pathogen detection; peptides
TL;DR: It was determined that gold nanorods functionalized with a cysteine-terminated homing peptide are capable of significant TPL output even when irradiated at near infrared wavelengths far from their longitudinal plasmon resonance (LPR), permitting considerable flexibility in the choice of GNR aspect ratio or excitation wavelength for TPL imaging.
