2011 article

Detection and Quantification of Peronospora tabacina Using a Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction Assay

Blanco-Meneses, M., & Ristaino, J. B. (2011, March 8). Plant Disease, Vol. 95, pp. 673–682.

By: M. Blanco-Meneses n & J. Ristaino n

Contributors: M. Blanco-Meneses n & J. Ristaino n

topics (OpenAlex): Plant Pathogens and Resistance; Plant Disease Resistance and Genetics; Plant-Microbe Interactions and Immunity
TL;DR: A real-time PCR assay for P. tabacina that uses 5' fluorogenic exonuclease (TaqMan) chemistry to detect and quantify pathogen DNA from diseased tissue will be a valuable tool for the detection of the pathogen and of use to regulatory agencies interested in preventing the spread of blue mold. Identification of the Tobacco Blue Mold Pathogen, Peronospora tabacina, by Polymerase Chain Reaction

Ristaino, J. B., Johnson, A., Blanco-Meneses, M., & Liu, B. (2007, May 31). Plant Disease, Vol. 91, pp. 685–691.

Contributors: J. Ristaino n, A. Johnson n, M. Blanco-Meneses n & B. Liu n

author keywords: oomycetes
topics (OpenAlex): Plant Pathogens and Resistance; Plant Pathogens and Fungal Diseases; Plant Disease Resistance and Genetics
TL;DR: A specific PCR primer, called PTAB, was developed and used with ITS4 to amplify a 764-bp region of DNA that was diagnostic for P. tabacina on tobacco and was useful for detection of the pathogen in fresh, air-dried, and cured tobacco leaves. (via Semantic Scholar)
