Mobile Data Offloading: How Much Can WiFi Deliver?

IEEE-ACM TRANSACTIONS ON NETWORKING, 21(2), 536–550.

author keywords: Delayed transmission; experimental networks; mobile data offloading; mobility
TL;DR: A trace-driven simulation using the acquired whole-day traces indicates that WiFi already offloads about 65% of the total mobile data traffic and saves 55% of battery power without using any delayed transmission. (via Semantic Scholar)

A Generalized Markov Graph Model: Application to Social Network Analysis

IEEE JOURNAL OF SELECTED TOPICS IN SIGNAL PROCESSING, 7(2), 318–332.

By: T. Wang n, H. Krim n & Y. Viniotis n

author keywords: Complex networks; pattern recognition; classification; Markov graph model
TL;DR: A generalized Markov Graph model for social networks is proposed and it is revealed that the degree distribution, the clustering coefficient distribution as well as a newly discovered feature, a crowding coefficient distribution, are fundamental to characterizing a social network. Can traditional fault prediction models be used for vulnerability prediction?

EMPIRICAL SOFTWARE ENGINEERING, 18(1), 25–59.

By: Y. Shin* & L. Williams n

author keywords: Software metrics; Complexity metrics; Fault prediction; Vulnerability prediction; Open source project; Automated text classification
TL;DR: The results suggest that fault prediction models based upon traditional metrics can substitute for specialized vulnerability prediction models, however, both fault prediction andulnerability prediction models require significant improvement to reduce false positives while providing high recall.
