Formation of a hexokinase complex is associated with changes in energy utilization in celery organs and cells

Yamamoto, Y. T., Prata, R. T. N., Williamson, J. D., Weddington, M., & Pharr, D. M. (2000, September 1). Physiologia Plantarum.

By: Y. Yamamoto n, R. Prata n, J. Williamson n, M. Weddington n & D. Pharr n

topics (OpenAlex): Plant nutrient uptake and metabolism; Pancreatic function and diabetes; Metabolism, Diabetes, and Cancer
TL;DR: It is found that mitochondria prepared from Glc-grown celery suspension-cultured cells contained substantial HK activity, and that oxygen uptake of these mitochondria was stimulated by Glc, consistent with the hypothesis that mitochondrial localization of celery HK may play a role in rapid recycling of adenylate. Sugar Repression of Mannitol Dehydrogenase Activity in Celery Cells

Prata, R. T. N., Williamson, J. D., Conkling, M. A., & Pharr, D. M. (1997, May 1). PLANT PHYSIOLOGY.

By: R. Prata n, J. Williamson n, M. Conkling n & D. Pharr n

topics (OpenAlex): Plant nutrient uptake and metabolism; Pancreatic function and diabetes; Plant Molecular Biology Research
TL;DR: Evidence that the activity of the mannitol-catabolizing enzymeMannitol dehydrogenase (MTD) is repressed by sugars in cultured celery (Apium graveolens L.) cells is presented and HK and sugar phosphorylation are involved in signaling MTD repression. (via Semantic Scholar)
