2010 journal article

Values, objectivity and credibility of scientists in a contentious natural resource debate

PUBLIC UNDERSTANDING OF SCIENCE, 21(1), 101–125.

By: Y. Yamamoto n

author keywords: interaction experts/publics; public participation; public understanding of science; science attitudes and perceptions; science experts; scientists' attitudes
MeSH headings : Communication; Community Participation; Conservation of Natural Resources; Culture; Environmental Policy; Humans; Policy Making; Public Opinion; Science
TL;DR: Citizens in contending communities and scientists in a forest management controversy constructed the scientists’ credibility differently and shared values and views of the nature of science and objectivity were primary factors for constructing scientists' credibility. (via Semantic Scholar)

2000 journal article

Formation of a hexokinase complex is associated with changes in energy utilization in celery organs and cells

PHYSIOLOGIA PLANTARUM, 110(1), 28–37.

By: Y. Yamamoto n, R. Prata n, J. Williamson n, M. Weddington n & D. Pharr n

TL;DR: It is found that mitochondria prepared from Glc-grown celery suspension-cultured cells contained substantial HK activity, and that oxygen uptake of these mitochondria was stimulated by Glc, consistent with the hypothesis that mitochondrial localization of celery HK may play a role in rapid recycling of adenylate. TL;DR: The distribution pattern of MTD within celery plants and in cell cultures that were grown on different carbon sources is consistent w ith the hypothesis that the Mtd gene may be regulated by sugar repression. (via Semantic Scholar)

CHARACTERIZATION OF CIS-ACTING SEQUENCES REGULATING ROOT-SPECIFIC GENE-EXPRESSION IN TOBACCO

PLANT CELL, 3(4), 371–382.

By: Y. Yamamoto n, C. Taylor n, G. Acedo n, C. Cheng n & M. Conkling n

MeSH headings : Amino Acid Sequence; Base Sequence; Cloning, Molecular; DNA; Gene Expression Regulation; Genes, Plant; In Situ Hybridization; Molecular Sequence Data; Organ Specificity / genetics; Plant Proteins / genetics; Plant Proteins / metabolism; Plants, Genetically Modified; Plants, Toxic; Regulatory Sequences, Nucleic Acid; Restriction Mapping; Sequence Homology, Nucleic Acid; Tobacco / anatomy & histology; Tobacco / genetics; Tobacco / metabolism; Transcription, Genetic
TL;DR: In situ hybridizations to RNA isolated from various tobacco tissues demonstrated that steady-state TobRB7 mRNA is not detected in expanded leaf, stem, or shoot apex tissue, and in situ hybridization to root sections revealed that TobRB 7 expression is localized to root meristem and immature central cylinder regions. ROOT-SPECIFIC GENES FROM TOBACCO AND ARABIDOPSIS HOMOLOGOUS TO AN EVOLUTIONARILY CONSERVED GENE FAMILY OF MEMBRANE CHANNEL PROTEINS

YAMAMOTO, Y. T., CHENG, C. L., & CONKLING, M. A. (1990, December 25). NUCLEIC ACIDS RESEARCH, Vol. 18, pp. 7449–7449.

By: Y. Yamamoto n, C. Cheng n & M. Conkling

MeSH headings : Amino Acid Sequence; Biological Evolution; Genes, Plant; Membrane Proteins / genetics; Molecular Sequence Data; Multigene Family; Plant Proteins / genetics; Plants / genetics; Plants, Toxic; Sequence Homology, Nucleic Acid; Tobacco / genetics
TL;DR: The deduced TobRB7 amino acid sequence initiated at the first ATG of the sequence and agrees with the consensus sequence surrounding eucaryotic initiation sites (Kozac's rules) and thus is the likely initiation codon. (via Semantic Scholar)
