Role of behavior in the evolution of insect adaptation to insecticides and resistant host plants

Bulletin of the Entomological Society of America, 30(4), 34.

By: F. Gould*

TL;DR: A two-locus genetic model was developed for examining factors influencing adaptation by pests to compounds or plants that have both insecticidal and repellent properties and suggests that in many situations, physiological adaptation will evolve more slowly when insecticide formulations with high repellency are used instead of nonrepellent formulations. By: F. Gould

CUCURBITACINS AND PREDATION OF THE SPOTTED CUCUMBER BEETLE, DIABROTICA-UNDECIMPUNCTATA-HOWARDI

ENTOMOLOGIA EXPERIMENTALIS ET APPLICATA, 36(3), 273–278.

By: F. Gould n & A. Massey n

TL;DR: Two hypotheses about the relationship of diabroticina beetles and plants in the family Cucurbitaceae are tested and it is found that commercial varieties of cucurbitacin‐producing cucumber offer Diabrotica undecimpunctata howardi chemical protection from some potential sources of natural control.
