Acryloyl esters of emodin for waterless dyeing and toxicological studies

Magalhaes, G. R., Militao, G. F. G., Farias, N. O., Albuquerque, A. F., Botelho, M. T., Raisanen, R., … Aragao Umbuzeiro, G. (2023, October 12). COLORATION TECHNOLOGY.

By: G. Magalhaes*, G. Militao*, N. Farias*, A. Albuquerque*, M. Botelho*, R. Raisanen*, H. Freeman n, G. Aragao Umbuzeiro*

TL;DR: It is found that emodin can be derivatized using acryloyl chlorides to give mono‐ and di‐acrylate esters suitable for dyeing polyester fibers in sc‐CO2, but the new dyes do not appear to be viable alternatives from the point of view of preserving human and environmental health.
