Responses to selection for partial resistance to crown rust in oat

Crop Science, 46(3), 1260–1265.

TL;DR: The results suggested that index selection could increase levels of crown rust resistance, grain yield, and seed weight simultaneously, and predicted and realized heritabilities for area under disease progress curve (AUDPC) were consistent with predicted herit abilities. MeSH headings : Chromosome Mapping / methods; Genetics, Population; Genotype; Hybridization, Genetic; Likelihood Functions; Models, Genetic; Phenotype; Zea mays / genetics
TL;DR: A general approach based upon mixed models is used to analyze data from eight segmental inbred lines in a B73 background and their crosses to the unrelated parent Mo17 (hybrids) and identifies segments that respond differently to density depending upon the inbreeding level.
