COMT Val158Met Polymorphism Exerts Sex-Dependent Effects on fMRI Measures of Brain Function

Frontiers in Human Neuroscience, 11.

TL;DR: Testing healthy adults for COMT genotype and sex provided insight into the potential influences of COMT-regulated variations in catecholamine levels on brain function, which may represent endophenotypes for disorders of impulsivity. (via Semantic Scholar)

A Reaction-Diffusion Model Explains Amplification of the PLC/PKC Pathway in Fibroblast Chemotaxis

BIOPHYSICAL JOURNAL, 113(1), 185–194.

By: K. Mohan n, J. Nosbisch n, T. Elston*, J. Bear* & J. Haugh n

MeSH headings : Animals; Cell Membrane / metabolism; Chemotaxis / physiology; Diffusion; Feedback, Physiological / physiology; Fibroblasts / enzymology; Intracellular Signaling Peptides and Proteins / metabolism; Membrane Proteins / metabolism; Models, Biological; Myristoylated Alanine-Rich C Kinase Substrate; Phosphorylation; Platelet-Derived Growth Factor / metabolism; Protein Kinase C / metabolism; Signal Transduction / physiology; Type C Phospholipases / metabolism
TL;DR: A reaction-diffusion model of phospholipase C/protein kinase C (PKC) signaling is developed and it is shown that phosphorylation of myristoylated alanine-rich C kinase substrate by membrane-localized PKC constitutes a positive feedback that is sufficient for local pathway amplification. EFFICIENT COMPUTATION OF SOBOL' INDICES FOR STOCHASTIC MODELS

SIAM JOURNAL ON SCIENTIFIC COMPUTING, 39(4), A1514–A1530.

author keywords: global sensitivity; Sobol' indices; stochastic models; surrogate models; MARS; high dimensions
TL;DR: This work presents a new global sensitivity analysis approach for stochastic models, i.e., models with both uncertain parameters and intrinsic Stochasticity, which relies on an analysis of variance through a generalization of Sobol' indices and on the use of surrogate models.
