The use of surface-bound RNA as a tool for directing the orthogonal synthesis of materials on surfaces was demonstrated and it was suggested that a single RNA molecule may be sufficient for nucleating and controlling the shapes of these particles.

Video-enhanced color differential interference contrast microscopy and transmission electron microscopy indicated that transport of nanoparticles into the cytoplasm and nucleus depends on peptide sequence and cell line, and cellular uptake of Tat PTD peptide-gold nanoparticle conjugates was temperature dependent, suggesting an endosomal pathway of uptake.
