2006 journal article

Application of classification and regression trees for sensitivity analysis of the Escherichia coli O157 : H7 food safety process risk model

JOURNAL OF FOOD PROTECTION, 69(3), 609–618.

Contributors: A. Mokhtari n

MeSH headings : Consumer Product Safety; Escherichia coli O157 / growth & development; Food Handling / methods; Food Microbiology; Food-Processing Industry / standards; Humans; Models, Biological; Regression Analysis; Risk Assessment / methods; Risk Assessment / standards; Sensitivity and Specificity; Temperature; Time Factors
TL;DR: The capabilities of classification and regression trees analysis are demonstrated as an alternative to other statistically based sensitivity analysis methods, and one that can readily address specific characteristics that are common in microbial food safety process risk models. Air emission inventories in North America: A critical assessment

[Review of ]. JOURNAL OF THE AIR & WASTE MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION, 56(8), 1115–1129.

By: C. Miller*, G. Hidy, J. Hales, C. Kolb*, A. Werner, B. Haneke, D. Parrish*, H. Frey n ...

Contributors: C. Miller*, G. Hidy, J. Hales, C. Kolb*, A. Werner, B. Haneke, D. Parrish*, H. Frey n ...

MeSH headings : Air Pollutants, Occupational / analysis; Air Pollution / analysis; Algorithms; Environmental Monitoring / standards; Environmental Monitoring / statistics & numerical data; Equipment and Supplies; North America
TL;DR: Approaches to improving quantitative measures of inventory uncertainty allow air quality management decisions to take into account the uncertainties associated with emissions estimates, providing more accurate projections of how well alternative strategies may work. (via Semantic Scholar)

Improved system integration for integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) systems

ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY, 40(5), 1693–1699.

Contributors: H. Frey n

MeSH headings : Gases / chemistry; Nitrogen; Systems Integration; Water
TL;DR: A process simulation model was developed for IGCC systems with alternative types of ASU and gas turbine integration and the optimal nitrogen injection only case had the highest efficiency and power output and approximately the lowest emissions per unit output of all cases considered, and thus is a recommended design option. A classifier for distribution feeder overcurrent analysis

IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON POWER DELIVERY, 21(1), 456–462.

By: M. Baran n & J. Kim n

author keywords: pattern classification; power distribution faults; power distribution protection; power quality (PQ)
TL;DR: It is shown that the two approaches-the Fourier transform, and the Wavelet transform can be adopted to extract features that make it possible to distinguish them from each other by using an artificial-neural-network-based classifier. (via Semantic Scholar)
