Observation of Conformal Symmetry Breaking and Scale Invariance in Expanding Fermi Gases

PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS, 112(4).

TL;DR: Scale invariance is tested and local thermal equilibrium in the hydrodynamic expansion of a Fermi gas of atoms as a function of interaction strength is examined and conformal symmetry breaking is observed, where deviates from ballistic flow. (via Semantic Scholar)

Asymmetries in core-collapse supernovae from maps of radioactive Ti-44 in Cassiopeia A

NATURE, 506(7488), 339-+.

TL;DR: The observed spatial distribution rules out symmetric explosions even with a high level of convective mixing, as well as highly asymmetric bipolar explosions resulting from a fast-rotating progenitor, providing strong evidence for the development of low-mode convective instabilities in core-collapse supernovae.
