Replication Protein A Stimulates the Werner Syndrome Protein Branch Migration Activity

Journal of Biological Chemistry, 284(50), 34682–34691.

By: G. Sowd*, H. Wang*, D. Pretto*, W. Chazin* & P. Opresko*

MeSH headings : Animals; DNA Replication; DNA, Single-Stranded / chemistry; DNA, Single-Stranded / genetics; DNA, Single-Stranded / metabolism; Exodeoxyribonucleases / genetics; Exodeoxyribonucleases / metabolism; Humans; Nucleic Acid Conformation; RecQ Helicases / genetics; RecQ Helicases / metabolism; Recombination, Genetic; Replication Protein A / genetics; Replication Protein A / metabolism; Shelterin Complex; Telomere / metabolism; Telomere-Binding Proteins / genetics; Telomere-Binding Proteins / metabolism; Werner Syndrome / genetics; Werner Syndrome / metabolism; Werner Syndrome Helicase
TL;DR: The results are consistent with cellular data that support RPA enhancement of branch migration during HR repair and POT1 limitation of inappropriate recombination and branch migration at telomeric ends and are, to the authors' knowledge, the first evidence that RPA can stimulate branch migration activity. Electroluminescence from Charge Transfer States in Polymer Solar Cells

Journal of the American Chemical Society, 131(33), 11819–11824.

TL;DR: The weak but omnipresent electroluminescence from several types of organic polymer is reported and interpreted to originate from interfacial charge transfer state recombination and emphasize EL as a very valuable tool to characterize the charge transferState present in donor/acceptor organic photovoltaic (OPV) cells.
