Cell surface-associated ribonuclease activities

Journal of Cellular Physiology, 98(1), 1–10.

By: F. Fuller* & P. Marcus*

MeSH headings : Adsorption; Cell Line; Cell Membrane / enzymology; Culture Media; Poly I-C; RNA, Viral; Ribonucleases / analysis; Ribonucleases / antagonists & inhibitors; Ribonucleases / metabolism
TL;DR: The ribonuclease (RNase) activity associated with the surface of cells (primarily the Vero line of Green monkey kidney) was assayed under conditions where all cells remained viable as members of colonies or monolayers. (via Semantic Scholar)

Interferon Induction by Viruses. II. Sindbis Virus: Interferon Induction Requires One-Quarter of the Genome -- Genes G and A

Journal of General Virology, 44(1), 169–177.

By: P. Marcus* & F. Fuller*

MeSH headings : Animals; Chick Embryo; Culture Techniques; Genes, Viral; Interferon Inducers; Interferons / biosynthesis; Mutation; RNA, Double-Stranded / pharmacology; RNA, Viral / pharmacology; Sindbis Virus / genetics; Sindbis Virus / growth & development; Sindbis Virus / radiation effects; Temperature; Ultraviolet Rays
TL;DR: It appears that genes G and A represent a special one-quarter of the genome which must be functional in order to synthesize an interferon-inducing moiety, and it is suggested that this moiety is a double-stranded RNA molecule formed after synthesis of a segment of RNA complementary to the genome.
