1988 journal article

Role of hydrogen in the activation and regulation of hydrogen oxidation by the soluble hydrogenase from Alcaligenes eutrophus H16.

The Biochemical Journal.

Michael Hyman

MeSH headings : Alcaligenes / enzymology; Dihydrolipoamide Dehydrogenase / metabolism; Enzyme Activation / drug effects; Hydrogen / metabolism; Hydrogenase / metabolism; Kinetics; NAD / pharmacology; Oxidation-Reduction; Thiosulfates / pharmacology
TL;DR: It is suggested that H2 plays an important role in regulating the level of H2-oxidizing activity in this soluble hydrogenase and whether H2 oxidation was assayed by H1-dependent Methylene Blue or NAD+ reduction. (via Semantic Scholar)

Aerobic, inactive forms of Azotobacter vinelandii hydrogenase: activation kinetics and insensitivity to C2H2 inhibition.

Biochimica Et Biophysica Acta.

Michael Hyman

MeSH headings : Acetylene / pharmacology; Aerobiosis; Azotobacter / enzymology; Cell Membrane / enzymology; Enzyme Activation; Hydrogen; Hydrogenase / antagonists & inhibitors; Kinetics; Oxidation-Reduction
TL;DR: Aerobically prepared, inactive hydrogenase was insensitive to acetylene inhibition, but could be rendered acetylene-sensitive by reduction with dithionite, indicating that acetylene inhibited hydrogenase requires catalytically active enzyme. (via Semantic Scholar)

Reversible and irreversible effects of nitric oxide on the soluble hydrogenase from Alcaligenes eutrophus H16

Biochemical Journal, 254(2), 469–475.

By: M. Hyman* & D. Arp*

MeSH headings : Alcaligenes / enzymology; Dihydrolipoamide Dehydrogenase / antagonists & inhibitors; Enzyme Activation / drug effects; Hydrogen / metabolism; Hydrogenase / antagonists & inhibitors; Kinetics; NAD / pharmacology; Nitric Oxide / pharmacology; Oxidation-Reduction
TL;DR: The effects of NO on the H2-oxidizing and diaphorase activities of the soluble hydrogenase from Alcaligenes eutrophus H16 were investigated and were interpreted in terms of a complex inhibition that displays elements of a reversible slow-binding inhibition of H1-oxIDizing activity and an irreversible effect on H2/NAD+ activity.
