PULMONARY ACTINOMYCOSIS IN A DOG

Veterinary Radiology, 24(4), 186–188.

TL;DR: A six-year-old spayed female mixed-breed dog was evaluated for coughing, dyspnea, exercise intolerance, and intermittent fever of four month's duration; however, radiographic evidence of a severe pulmonary pathologic condition remained 45 days after the initiation of therapy. 1983 chapter

On the complexity of finding short vectors in integer lattices

In Lecture Notes in Computer Science (pp. 236–244).

TL;DR: It is proved that this algorithm can actually be executed in O(n6(log B)2+n5( log B)3) binary steps by analyzing a modified version of the algorithm which also performs better in practice. (via Semantic Scholar)

A novel protein programmed by the mRNA conserved in dry wheat embryos. The principal site of cysteine incorporation during early germination

European Journal of Biochemistry, 135(1), 9–15.

By: L. Hanley-Bowdoin* & B. Lane*

MeSH headings : Alkylation; Amino Acids / analysis; Cell-Free System; Chromatography; Cysteine / metabolism; Electrophoresis, Polyacrylamide Gel; Lectins / analysis; Plant Lectins; Plant Proteins / biosynthesis; Plant Proteins / isolation & purification; RNA, Messenger / metabolism; Seeds / metabolism; Triticum; Wheat Germ Agglutinins
TL;DR: It was especially interesting to find that when wheat embryo proteins are alkylated by iodo[14C]acetamide, two proteins co-dominate the distribution of radioalkylated products in dodecylsulphate/polyacrylamide gels: Ec and wheat germ agglutinin. (via Semantic Scholar)

Planta, 158(6), 487–500.

By: W. Thompson*, M. Everett*, N. Polans*, R. Jorgensen* & J. Palmer*

TL;DR: The results are consistent with the notion that chloroplast development is arrested at a later stage in dark-grown mung-bean leaves than in etiolated pea buds. (via Semantic Scholar)

1983 journal article

DNase I sensitivity of transcriptionally active genes in intact nuclei and isolated chromatin of plants.

Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 80(3), 815–819.

By: S. Spiker, M. Murray & W. Thompson*

MeSH headings : Cell Nucleus / ultrastructure; Chromosomal Proteins, Non-Histone / physiology; Deoxyribonucleases; Gene Expression Regulation; High Mobility Group Proteins; Nucleosomes / ultrastructure; Transcription, Genetic; Triticum
TL;DR: The chromatin structure that confers preferential DNase I sensitivity to transcriptionally active genes appears to be lost when the higher-ionic-strength method of preparation is used, and it is suggested that treatment of wheat nuclei with DN enzyme I causes the release of four prominent nonhistone chromosomal proteins that comigrate with wheat high mobility group proteins on NaDodSO4 gels.
