Surfactant-Mediated Modulation of Hydrophobic Interactions in Associative Polymer Solutions Containing Cyclodextrin

LANGMUIR, 25(2), 794–802.

By: S. Talwar n, J. Harding n, K. Oleson n & S. Khan n

MeSH headings : Cyclodextrins / chemistry; Hydrophobic and Hydrophilic Interactions; Molecular Structure; Polymers / chemistry; Rheology; Solutions; Surface-Active Agents / chemistry; Viscosity
TL;DR: The ability of nonionic surfactants to modulate the rheological characteristics of comblike hydrophobically modified associative polymer solutions containing cyclodextrin (CD) is examined and it is revealed that the extent and rate of recovery of zero shear viscosity as well as dynamic moduli are strongly influenced by the type of CD (alpha versus beta) aswell as the HLB of the surfactant.
