Separation and characterization of human high-density apolipoproteins using a nonaqueous modifier in capillary electrophoresis-mass spectrometry

ELECTROPHORESIS, 23(14), 2296–2305.

By: L. Deterding*, J. Cutalo*, M. Khaledi n & K. Tomer*

author keywords: apolipoproteins; capillary electrophoresis; high-density lipoproteins; mass spectrometry; tandem mass spectrometry
TL;DR: The separation and characterization of human apolipoproteins and their isoforms was investigated using capillary electrophoresis (CE) in combination with mass spectrometry (MS), and it is suggested that the multiple components observed in the acetonitrile‐containing CE separation appear to be oxidized forms of the proteins in addition to native form of the apoipoprotein A‐I and A‐II. TL;DR: The data presented here further substantiate the conclusion that a conformationally driven ligand switch exists in photolyzed H93G-*CO and suggest that ligand conformational changes in response to dynamic motions of the globin on the nanosecond and longer time scales are a general feature of the H 93G proximal cavity mutant.
