Contributors: P. Yogeeswari*, D. Sriram*, V. Saraswat*, J. Ragavendran*, M. Kumar*, S. Murugesan*, R. Thirumurugan*, J. Stables

author keywords: phthalimides; semicarbazides; thiosemicarbazides; anticonvulsants; CNS depressants
MeSH headings : Animals; Anticonvulsants / chemical synthesis; Anticonvulsants / therapeutic use; Anticonvulsants / toxicity; Drug Evaluation, Preclinical / methods; Male; Mice; Rats; Rats, Sprague-Dawley; Seizures / drug therapy; Semicarbazides / chemical synthesis; Semicarbazides / toxicity
TL;DR: The phenyl (thio) semicarbazide derivatives of phthalimido pharmacophore were synthesized and evaluated for their anticonvulsant and neurotoxic properties and exhibited CNS depression and behavioral despair side effects, lesser than the conventional antiepileptic drugs.
