Endogenous DAF-16 spatiotemporal activity quantitatively predicts lifespan extension induced by dietary restriction

COMMUNICATIONS BIOLOGY, 6(1).

MeSH headings : Animals; Caenorhabditis elegans / genetics; Longevity / genetics; Caenorhabditis elegans Proteins / metabolism; Signal Transduction; Insulin / metabolism; Forkhead Transcription Factors / metabolism
TL;DR: The results indicate that DR regimes induce strong endogenous DAF-16 activity, although Daf-16 is less responsive in aged individuals, and analysis of tissue-specific expression aided by a machine learning tissue classifier reveals that, under DR, the largest contribution to D AF-16 nuclear intensity originates from the intestine and neurons. Re-engineering a lost trait:IPD3, a master regulator of arbuscular mycorrhizal symbiosis, affects genes for immunity and metabolism of non-host Arabidopsis when restored long after its evolutionary loss

Hornstein, E. D., Charles, M., Franklin, M., Edwards, B., Vintila, S., Kleiner, M., & Sederoff, H. (2023, March 7).

TL;DR: Despite the long interval since loss of AM and IPD3 in Arabidopsis, molecular connections to symbiosis machinery remain in place in this nonAM species, with implications for both basic science and the prospect of engineering this trait for agriculture. (via Semantic Scholar)
